Spiced Cinnamon Chai Recipe

Warm your heart and soothe your soul with this aromatic and flavorful Sophic Spiced Cinnamon Chai. Perfect for cozy evenings or a festive treat!


Makes 2 servings

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk (or plant-based milk like almond or oat)
  • 2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf black tea)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (plus extra for garnish if desired)
  • 3–4 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1–2 tsp sugar, honey, or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional for garnish)

  1. Prepare the Spice Base
  2. Brew the Tea
    • Remove from heat and allow tobrew for 3–4 minutes or until the tea is dark and aromatic.
  3. Add Milk and Sweetener
    • Place back onto the hob.
    • Stir in the milk and your choice of sweetener. Bring the mixture back to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent the milk from scorching.
    • DO not allow to boil.
  4. Strain and Serve
    • Remove the saucepan from heat. Strain the chai into cups or a teapot to remove the spices and tea leaves.
  5. Garnish (Optional)

  • Adjust spice levels to your liking—add more ginger for a spicier kick or more cinnamon for extra sweetness.
  • For a creamier chai, use full-fat milk or creamy coconut milk.
  • Add a splash of vanilla extract for a unique twist.
