Tips for Kids and Parents
The back-to-school season is just around the corner, with kids returning to classrooms in just a few weeks. This time of year can be exciting but also overwhelming for your kids and parents.
Being a mum of Three incredible Kiddos of my own, for 35 years I was inspired to create a post to help all the mums ou there with geting ready for the back to scholl shenanigans.. The key to a smooth transition is preparation—not just in terms of school supplies but also mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Here are some wellness tips to help your family navigate this busy season with ease.
1. Establish a Routine Early
Getting back into a routine can be challenging after a long break. Start implementing a consistent daily schedule now to ease the transition:
- Sleep Schedule: Gradually adjust bedtime and wake-up times to align with school hours.
- Morning Routine: Practice getting up, dressed, and ready by a specific time each morning.
- Homework Habits: Set aside quiet time each day for reading or light study to rebuild focus and discipline.
2. Focus on Nutrition
Proper nutrition fuels both the body and mind, helping kids stay energized and focused:
- Healthy Breakfast: Prioritize protein, and fresh fruits to start the day right.
- Balanced Lunches: Pack meals with a mix of lean proteins, fresh vegetables, Fruits, and Natural non processed snacks.
- Snack Smart: Opt for healthy snacks like yogurts, crispy flat bread, dips or fruit instead of sugary, highly processed option.
3. Prioritize Mental Health
The back-to-school season can bring anxiety, especially after extended breaks. Encourage open communication and emotional support:
- Check-Ins: Ask your child how they’re feeling about returning to school.
- Mindfulness: Practice deep breathing or simple meditation together to reduce stress.
- Positive Reinforcement: Celebrate small wins, like completing a homework assignment or meeting a new friend.
4. Stay Active
Physical activity helps kids (and parents!) manage stress and stay healthy:
- Family Workouts: Take evening walks or bike rides together.
- Sports and Clubs: Encourage your child to join school activities that interest them.
- Stretch Breaks: Incorporate short movement breaks during study time to boost focus and energy.
5. Organize and Prepare
Being organized reduces stress and ensures smoother mornings:
- School Supplies: Stock up on essentials like notebooks, pencils, and backpacks at least 1 week before school goes back.
- Calendar Management: dedicate wither an online or physical calendar so you’re able to Mark important dates like school orientations or parent-teacher meetings and display it in an area where it can be seen and used as a reminder for all of the family.
- Clothing Prep: Lay out clothes the night before to save time in the morning.
6. Stay Healthy
The classroom is a shared space, making it essential to focus on hygiene and immunity:
- Personal Hygiene: Teach kids to wash their hands after using the rest room, before and after handling food, using towellettes for wiping face and hands after eating and being mindful of wiping feet before entering into the house and class room.
- Hydration: Pack a reusable and refillable water bottle to keep the Kiddos hydrated throughout the day.
